Airmail

This 2-day workshop took place outside the entrance of the Royal College of Art during the Final show in 2006. People who took part in this workshop could write a question asking anything he or she liked on a postcard which was provided. The postcard was then attached to a balloon and released into the sky. A person who found the card, wherever it landed, could write an answer to the question, and send it to the address printed on the postcard, my flat. Interestingly enough, I received only one postcard, sent by anonymous person, out of the 200 released.

都市空間における匿名のコミュニケーションというテーマで、Royal College of Artの卒業制作展期間中に合わせて行った来客者を対象にしたワークショップ。ワークショップ参加者は配布されたポストカードの上部に答えてもらいたい質問を自由に書き、風船にくくりつけて空に飛ばす事が出来る。その後、風船がしぼんで落下したポストカードを拾った人はその質問に対する答えを書き、記述された住所に送り返され、そのポストカードは最終的に私のホームページ上で掲載され、質問を書いた人、答えた人がその結果を見る事が出来るという仕組み。しかし興味深い事にロンドン中を巡り、最終的に私の手元に戻ってきたポストカードは200枚飛ばしたうちわずか一枚だった。
