Parasitism

The space I was allocated for showing my works at the final show of the RCA was very small. I had an idea to create a parasite work that would extend my space. Every year students print hundreds of postcards to promote their works to the visiting public. I decided to parasite the postcards. Firstly, I designed a wide variety of stickers with positive words to praise the work of other students. Next I picked up the postcards of several students, and stuck the stickers onto them. Finally, I put the postcards back into their original places. As a result, many students liked my idea and many people came to my space. I continued this project outside of the college attaching hundreds of stickers on objects around London, including books, advertisements, cars and foods.

Royal College of Artの卒業制作のうちの一つのプロジェクト。与えられた卒業制作展のスペースが非常に狭かったため、展示会という空間で他の作品に自分の作品を寄生させる事で領域を拡張する事を考案した。毎年全ての学生は作品のプロモーションの為に数百枚のポストカードを用意するが、その中に自分の作品を寄生させようと決定し、まず数十種類の寄生の対象を褒めたたえる言葉が書かれたステッカーを制作した。そして前述のポストカードの束の中の数枚にそれを貼ってもとの場所に戻し、見事寄生する事に成功した。このプロジェクトは都市空間に拡張し、ロンドン中の本、広告、車、食品といったあらゆるオブジェクトも寄生した。
