t-sa forum 2006 / book

I was asked to design a book for Toh Shimazaki Architecture’s annual architecture forum held in London in 2006. Since the main theme of designing the book was “process”, I adapted a unique idea for the book design: content that starts with the front cover and continues in a timeline structure. Each students work is arranged in chronological order in the book with initial sketches, research photographs, and ending with the final work. Moreover, parts of the work are also printed in other student’s areas so that all the content is arranged into one timeline.

ロンドンの建築事務所、Toh Shimazaki Architectureの主宰する建築フォーラムの2006年度に開催されたフォーラムの様子を記録したブックデザイン。制作する上でのテーマになった時系列を本の中で表現する事に重点を置き、表紙から既にコンテンツが始まっているような装丁を採用した。それぞれの学生の図版は初期段階のスケッチ、リサーチ写真等から始まり、最終作品で完結するようにレイアウトされている。又、次の学生の作品が前の学生のページにかかっており、本を読む人に時間の流れや制作プロセスを明確に伝えるデザインになっている。
